MapRight Announces A Major Update To The Mobile App

Dallas, TX — May 12, 2022 — MapRight is thrilled to announce a sweeping update to our mobile app for both iOS and Android. New improvements include the addition of an offline button, updated map layout, improved dashboard, quicker map creation, faster loading and panning on maps, quick photo-taking, and tracking.

“We’ve been working on this update for some time now, and we’re really excited about how it’s come together,” says MapRight’s Founder and CEO, Steve Roberson. “We strive to make MapRight as friendly and intuitive as possible, and this new release will certainly help us achieve that goal.”

With this new release, creating beautiful maps has never been easier. Now, you can:

Use Maps Offline

No matter what the cell coverage is like at a property, you can still use your MapRight maps. To save a map for offline use, click the hamburger menu in the upper lefthand corner (when you still have service), click store for offline, choose whether you save visible or refined area (refined is best for larger properties), then choose the layers you wish to show. When you go offline, click the WIFI button and continue using your map without a hitch, then tap it again when you go back online to save any changes you’ve made.

Take Photos On-Site & Automatically Add Them To Your Map

To give viewers an idea of what it’s like to be on a property, you can add photos to specific points on your map. Simply tap the tool button (the gey gear) in the bottom right corner, click “take photo”, and the app will automatically drop a photo point where the photo was taken. When you share the map, viewers will be able to click that point and see the pictures you took.

Track Yourself

You can show prospective buyers or visitors exactly what parts of a property they saw by saving tours on your map. Tap the tool button in the bottom right corner, click “start tour”, and when you’re done, save the tour. Once the tour is complete, it will show up on your interactive map, helping to acquaint visitors with the property.

Get Accurate Driving Directions

Driving directions based on addresses alone can be inaccurate, especially for rural properties. With MapRight, you can get driving directions based on the latitude and longitude of a point on your map instead. To do this, tap the car icon in the top right corner, choose “drop location”, tap and hold a point on the property, then click start and choose your preferred navigation app.

Use The App With Clients & Colleagues

Clients and colleagues won’t need to create a MapRight account to utilize any maps you send them. Once you email them a map, all they have to do is download the iOS or Android mobile app, click “view map” in the email, and tap open. From there, they can get driving directions, view the property, and even use measurement tools.

Access Important Overlays Like Parcels & Floodplains

It can be extremely beneficial to see where you’re standing in relation to floodplains, soils, parcels, etc. when you’re onsite. To access these important overlays, tap the overlay button in the upper right corner, choose a base map, and turn on as many overlays as you need.

Add Points, Lines, and Polygons To Your Map

To add a point, line, or polygon to your map, tap the gear button on the bottom right of your map and choose the “draw tool”. You can place items at your current location (for polygons, you can walk around the perimeter of the area and the app will automatically draw the shape for you) or you can manually add items to other locations on your map. Once the item is created, you can tap it to edit the name or color and view critical information about it (such as the acreage).
